The fate of the class 12th board exams will be decided after a widest possible consultation and keeping in mind the current situation and student’s future prospects, the government sources informed on May 24.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh had chaired a high level meeting on May 23 with Union ministers Smrirti Irani, Prakash Javadekar and Sanjay Dhotre also in attendance and representatives from states regarding the board exams following Prime Minster Narendra Modi’s meeting on May 21 where the Prime Minister had called for a high level meeting to be held with all states and Union ministers in order to decide on the issue.
The Prime Minister after being briefed by the Union Education Ministry about the extensive consultations that were being done with the teachers and parents and about the options available with respect to the exams had said that government must arrive at a decision carefully and keeping in mind both the security and future of children.
Union Education Minister, stated after the meeting that there was a broad consensus among states about conducting Class 12 board exams and an “informed, collaborative” decision will be taken by June 1
