The Delhi Court has framed charges against seven accused of killing an innocent Muslim man during the communal Riots in northeast Delhi.
The accused are charged for offences of murder and rioting under the provisions of the Indian Penal Code of India.
The Additional Sessions Judge Vinod Yadav framed the charges against all the 7 accused observing that, “There was prima facie enough material on record to frame charges against them.”
Riots arose after the clashes broke between the supporters and non-supporters of the Citizenship Amendment Act in the National capital Delhi.
This particular case of murder was also in connection to the Riots. The victim Monish was killed while he was walking to his house after buying sweets.
The eyewitnesses stated that Monish was beaten by the Riots mob who were armed with deadly weapons.
Monish was immediately admitted to the nearby hospital by the unknown people who witnessed the murder, but he died.
In this regard, an FIR was registered on March 1, 2020. Subsequently, statements of eyewitnesses and CCTV footage of the camera installed at GTB Hospital nearby the murder area were also submitted as evidence.
On the other hand, the charges were refuted by the accused persons stating that they were falsely implicated in the matter. Accused also pointed out the unexplained delay of 5 days in registration of FIR.
