The Delhi High Court granted Google the liberty to approach the Court if there is any further leak in the Media about the confidential interim fact-finding report submitted by the Director General of the Competition Commission of India (CCI).
Last week, Google filed a Writ Petition in the Court over the disclosure of CCI’s report relating to the investigation into the Company’s Android smartphone agreements.
The CCI informed the Court that the purported leak from the Anti-trust body did not occur. It further stated that no confidential information about the investigation had been leaked.
Google criticized the leak of Report as a breach of confidence that jeopardises its ability to defend itself and damages Google and its partners.
In a statement issued last week, the firm stated that it had not yet received or reviewed the confidential report.
A Google Spokesperson said, “Protecting confidential information is fundamental to any Governmental investigation, and we are pursuing our legal right to seek redress and prevent any further unlawful disclosures.”
According to media reports, the Director General found Google indulged in Unfair Commercial Practices with respect to Android.
