The Uttarakhand High Court on removed the daily cap on the number of devotees visiting the Char Dham Temples.

The famous Himalayan temples consist of 4 shrines- Kedarnath Dham, Badrinath Dham, Gangotri, and Yamunotri.

The decision comes after the State Government moved the High Court seeking permission to remove the daily cap on the number of devotees visiting the Char Dham shrines.

In the Order, the Bench comprising Chief Justice Raghvendra Singh Chauhan and Justice Alok Kumar Verma remarked, “Admittedly, the number of COVID-19 cases is steadily declining throughout the country… Therefore, in the present scenario, it would indeed be in the interest of justice to remove the upper cap limit for pilgrims to visit the Char Dham.”

In its previous Order dated September 16, albeit the court allowed devotees to the Yatra, it had placed restrictions: 1000 pilgrims to visit Badrinath, 800 to Kedarnath, 400 to Yamunotri and 600 to Gangotri.
