The CBI has booked Deputy Director-General of the Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS), Arvind Kumar and Others. They have been booked on Graft Charges.
The Investigative Agency has also seized INR 35 Lakh which has been alleged to be the first installment of Bribe.
A CBI official has stated,
“The DDG and two private persons have been detained. The other two have been identified as Kailash Mandal, a relative of Mr. Kumar; and Triloki Nath Singh.”
The DDG has been posted at the DGMS Central Zone head office in Dhanbad.
It has been alleged that the official under the radar extended undue favors to 48 candidates who appeared in an oral examination after qualifying the computer-based tests for the manager’s Certificate of Competency (Restricted and unrestricted).
The Oral examination was conducted in March and members of the Interview board were influenced in a manner to ensure that these candidates were selected.
The official accused is said to have accepted INR 1.5 Lakh per head for the job. This amount was delivered in two installments.
The Agency Sleuths acted on a tip-off, laid a trap, and detained three accused which includes Mr. Kumar, when the money was changing hands.
Officials have said, “Searches are being conducted at 12 locations in Lakhisarai, Dhanbad, Ranchi, Nagpur, Udaipur, Shahdol (Madhya Pradesh), Hyderabad and Bilaspur.”
