The Bombay High Court directed while Hearing the Defamation Suit Mr. Sameer Wankhede’s father has slammed on the Maharashtra Minister Nawab Malik that the Minister should submit an Affidavit stating that the information posted on social media is verified.
Mr. Malik releasing what he claimed was the birth certificate of Sameer Wankhede, alleged that the officer is a Muslim by birth and that his real name is “Sameer Dawood Wankhede”.
Further Mr. Malik also Claimed that the Officer forged his Birth Certificate to get a Job Reservation meant for Scheduled Castes.
The Single Judge Bench of Justice Madhav Jamdar directed “I want an Affidavit from you that the information is verified. It can be a one-page Affidavit.”
“You have to prove prima facie that what he is saying is false. The son is not an individual. He is a public official and any member of the public can examine him… Show me every tweet and how according to you it is false,” Justice Madhav Jamdar stated while leaving the onus on Dnyandev Wankhede.
Arshad Shaikh representing Wankhede Senior read a tweet of Nawab Malik stating “Sameer Dawood Wankhede ka yahaan se shuru hua farziwada” (the falsification by Sameer Dawood Wankhede begins here).
Mr. Wankhede sternly stated that sullying the name of someone and making insinuations based on chats received from someone alleged as a drug peddler is not Ethically, Morally, and Legally Right.
Wankhede Senior claimed it to be very low-level politics and filed a ₹1.25 crore Defamation Case against Malik.
Sameer Wankhede alleged that the minister holds a grudge against the agency after the Arrest of his son-in-law in a Drugs Case and is now pursuing personal revenge.
The next hearing is posted on November 12.
