The Bar Council of Delhi (BCD) has taken action against 15 more advocates suspected of participating in the violent clashes that occurred at Delhi’s Tis Hazari Court complex earlier this month. The BCD, on July 14, suspended the licenses/enrollment of these advocates with immediate effect.

The lawyers who have been suspended include Vibhu Tyagi, Vishal Yadav, Akash Khatri, Amulya Sharma, Deepak Arora, Jitesh Khari, Lalit, Mohit Sharma, Rahul Sharma, Randeep Singh, Sandeep Sood, Sanjay Kumar, Satish Kumar, Sharad Sharma, and Shiv Ram Pandey.

The decision to suspend these advocates came after the BCD took suo motu cognizance of viral videos depicting the violence that occurred at the court complex. These videos showed two groups of lawyers engaging in clashes, firing guns, pelting stones, and hurling abuses at each other.

In response to these incidents, the BCD established a Fact-Finding Committee tasked with identifying the lawyers involved in the violence. The Committee conducted interviews with members of the Tis Hazari Bar and reviewed the available videos. Subsequently, the Committee submitted an interim report to the BCD.

Based on the findings of the interim report, the BCD made the decision to suspend the licenses of the 15 advocates, recognizing their alleged active involvement in the violent incident and stone-throwing. The suspended lawyers have been notified of their suspension and have been instructed to submit a written explanation while appearing before the BCD on August 25 at 4 PM.

It is worth noting that earlier, on July 5 and July 6, the BCD had already suspended five advocates—Manish Sharma, Lalit Sharma, Aman Singh, Sachin Sangwan, and Ravi Gupta—for their alleged roles in the Tis Hazari Court violence. Additionally, three lawyers accused of participating in the brawl were remanded to police custody for four days by a Delhi court on July 6.
