The Andhra Pradesh High Court directed the government, led by Jaganmohan Reddy, to not spend public money on the infrastructure to be provided to Amul thereby issuing an interim stay on the implementation of MoU between Andhra Pradesh Dairy Development Cooperative Federation Limited (APDDCF) and Amul.
The direction came after MP Raghurama Raju filed a petition challenging the constitutionality of the MoU with Amul and contended the same to be illegal.
The AP government was supposed to file a counter affidavit in regards to the challenge of Raju.
After the failure on part of the government to do so, the Court proceeded with the hearing and issued an interim stay on the implementation of MoU.
C Suman, appearing on behalf of the government, argued that the petitioner is trying to create inconvenience and is not happy to see the dairy farmers earn the additional income.
The Court rejected the contention of Suman and ordered National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) to issue notices to the headquarters of Amul Dairy Company in Gujarat.
The Court further asked Raju to issue notices to Amul and Prakasam Milk Producers and submit the proof of such notices to the Court.
The matter is listed for further hearing on 14 June.
