Nitin Gadkari is current Minister for Road Transport and Highways
and Shipping, He is a senior leader of the Bhartiya Janata Party.
 Currently, he is the Union Minister for Surface Transport & Shipping
in the government of India. Gadkari was given the additional charge
of the ministries of Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Drinking
Water and Sanitation after the sudden death of Gopina. He is know
n as the flyovers man because of his work in constructing roads,
 expressways and flyovers. He has worked hard in politics to get to
 the position he is in today. His humble rise from the grassroots to
shouldering the likes of Modi and Advani says a lot about the man
 and his vision. His position today is that of the opposition leader
 in the Lok Sabha.

Nitin Gadkari is known for his work in building bridges, flyovers and
expressways, which was a remarkable performance in the four years
 of his tenure in the Public Works Department. He is also known to
have played a significant role in building Prime Minister’s Gram
Sadak Yojana. He also transformed the Central PWD. Nagpur too,
 became a beautiful city due to his contribution to the infrastructure
 of the city.

He is popular amongst the poor as he works for their upliftment. During
his tenure as a Minister, he started providing work for qualified civil
engineers who could register with and undertake assignments of the
PWD which was roughly calculated to cost up to 15 lakhs. Mr. Gadkari
 also rewarded those who showed good work and penalised those with
poor work quality. He is known to have pioneered Public - Private
 partnership in various infrastructure developments. Besides, he is
also known to have built roads that connect around 13,726 villages in
 the state of Maharashtra.
